It was great to see the space shuttle up close. Free after 3pm. Very educational displays. Love the variety of the exhibits The journey of the shuttle from the airport to the museum is amazing to see. Great movie and there is a virtual ride that last 7 minutes for a fee. There are 3 levels grab a map a start your adventure!!!

It is free to enter unless you want to pay tickets for the "special exhibit" on the 3rd floor. There is a small food court within the science center and clean restrooms located on all 3 floors. There is also a gift shop near the entrance.
There were live animals in some of the ecosystem exhibits and even a portion to touch a starfish. Very fun and interactive activities in each exhibit. It was really cool to see the NASA exhibit as well with the real shuttle on display.
You'll need to park in the expo parking garage ($15 to park for the day) but finding the science center is an easy walk from there.

Admission is free but there is $3 service fee when you get a ticket via on-line. And parking fee is $15. Hard to get into the park when football game is scheduled. Definitely good for kids. At the 1st floor, lobby and cafeteria occupy large area. Few exhibitions are there. Main exhibitions are at the 2nd floor. You can see the history of spaceships. And other exhibitions are there. Endeavour is outside of the building. It just looks great👍👍👍 Also there is a huge fuel tank. It’s just huge. It is very impressive experience.

3/28/2022 reservations are required as well as vaccination record and your mask! It is clearly stated on their website so I won’t get into more details. This place has the actual space shuttle that took on many missions and alone that was worth the trip. The exhibitions are good for K-12 but catered more for smaller children. We overall enjoyed it.

Questions & Answers
How long will it take to walk through the exhibit? How long is the movie "Mysteries of Egypt"?
Sharon Argueta | Aug 25, 2018
Stephen Ou (歐士聞) | Aug 25, 2018
Depending on how crowded on the day, it takes on average about 1.5 - 2 hours to walk through the exhibit, and more if you want to take time to read all the information on the walls and the artifacts.
When is the best day to go when not jammed with a lot of visitors?
Is there enough time to see tha space shuttle along with the Tut exhibit?

I went on a Friday and it was packed with field trips. I would think Monday would be the least likely field trip day.
the California Science Center is free. Endeavor is sometimes free (call or check the website), Body Worlds is about $20 (website has full information), IMAX has a cost (website again).
Only the special exhibits and IMAX coat anything. The other exhibits are free, though they do ask for donations. And the special exhibits are very reasonably priced. I think I paid less than $15 for a terrific one on the science behind making the Pixar movies. There is also a $3 surcharge to reserve spaces at Endeavour and special exhibits in advance, and I highly recommend doing that because exhibits get popular and sell out fast!
Admission is free to most of the rooms, only if there is a special presentation if you pay for that presentation! Parking costs $ 15-18! And inside the museum the flight simulators cost 5 and 10 dollars!
No, part of the paid exhibits but admission is so cheap and so much to look at, it's totally worth it. My suggestion buy tickets for one of the 3D IMAX movies which will also grant you admission to the science center
Yes, admission to the Science Center is free. You can also visit the Rose Garden (straight out the back of the Science Center building) for free. There are some charges to keep in mind, though. Parking is $15. Special Exhibits (currently Angkor: The Lost Empire of Cambodia) require an advance reservation and paid ticket. The Natural History Museum (out back and to left) also requires a paid ticket that you can purchase in advance or at the door.
Box office is completely free, but you may have to wait 15 mins before getting in since the reservations are timed. It is pay per exhibit for the special ones and any "experiences" you want to go on (VR, flight sim, ect...). Right now they are requiring proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test within the last 3 days.
IMAX, and any indoor museum exhibit would require a general admission ticket per adult, plus options for other exhibits to purchase. Other than walking around the Rose Garden, you can explore sidewalks around the grounds between the museums buildings and parking area. Check the museums website calendar, for special discount days.
No - this is the last exhibition of Tut's treasures. When this exhibit closes all the artifacts are returning to Egypt. Egypt is opening a museum in the next few years. These artifacts will never travel outside Egypt again.
Can you take photography (I assume non-flash) at the King Tut exhibit? I want to h ck it out and would love to take some shots.
Andy Lopušnak | Aug 25, 2018
heyprizzly | Aug 25, 2018
Yes you can. Also you are right about no flash photography, but a very beautiful exhibit. 😊
There are plenty of things for that age group. Almost every thing is hands on. And what's the best is that they have enough things to do that kids aren't just standing around waiting for their turn.
Is it only the artifacts on display ? Is king tut’s coffin on display as well?
Matthew Benavidez | Aug 25, 2018
Stephen Ou (歐士聞) | Aug 25, 2018
Organized into nine galleries, the 150 artifacts include gold jewelry, carvings, sculptures and ritual antiquities, in addition to 3-D visuals, digital content and audio.
Among the highlights are a life-sized statue of the pharaoh, ceremonial bed, golden shrine with scenes of Tutankhamun and his wife, Ankhesenamun, and a jeweled coffinette that held his mummified liver.
Unfortunately, none of the three (layers) of sarcophagus ("coffin") is on display.
The museum opens to the public at 10am daily and offers free general admission, friendly knowledge staff, exceptional exhibits and plenty of additional amenities.
The California Science Center closes at 5pm.
There is a lot more than just flight though. There's an artificial tidal pool. There's an exhibit on earthquakes, and you can ride an earthquake simulator while learning what to do during an earthquake and why certain ways of engineering are better than others.
They have special exhibits, which have included the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Human Body, and the Science behind the Pixar Movies (absolutely amazing!). It's a very hands - on, interactive museum.
It also has an IMAX theater with amazing educational movies that are so fun toy forget they're educational.
Plus, if you have kids, they have all sorts of week-long summer classes or Saturday school year classes in fun subjects. When I was a kid 30 years my favorite classes were Math - magic and movie special effects, while my brother loved the model rocket class. We had so much fun we didn't know we were being educated! I call it learning by stealth! They have even cooler classes for all ages now!
It's great for all ages!
They have a food court at the back of the Science Center on the first floor. There are many cart venders selling bacon-wrapped hot dogs, elotes (Mexican street corn), raspados (Mexican shaved ice), ice creams, etc. as well. They're just outside the food court, between the Science Center and the Natural History Museum.
The admission is free in-person. You can go to the box office for the tickets for admission and it's free. There's a cost online for the Science Center. The IMAX cost is separate
Are you trying to go to the science center, the IMax or the exhibit? If you want to go to the IMax or an exhibit, then I'm not sure how to get advance tickets. But if you just want to go for a visit you don't need to buy tickets or make a reservation. Just show up, get your free tickets & enter.
A large part of the museum is free. You have to pay for a visit to the space shuttle. You also have to buy tickets for imax movies. I hope the question is answered correctly in relation to the Google translator.

We went in there on a Friday afternoon and got parking near the front! They had plenty leftover. Maybe be different earlier in the day or on the weekends!
The admission is free, unless you want to see the special exhibits. Such as the puppies and dogs entrance is $9.95, and to see the Space Shuttle Endeavor is $3.00. But they also go by the age of the kids on some of the exhibits.
Lol. Wow. Of all the questions to ask...
The California Science Center is owned by the state of California thus they generally operate on a different schedule. You can always try to petition the state to see if they will change their closing time. However since it's a state run museum and money is tight the chances are slim. But no harm in trying!
Parking is 12$ the center is free..some exhibits have a fee to enter but you can purchase an imax ticket (little under 9$ ) and it will cover the cost so you can go in to the exhibits
Admission to the Science Center's permanent exhibition galleries is FREE (excluding IMAX and Special Exhibits). Parking for cars and "yellow" school buses is $12 until 5:00 p.m. and $15 after 5:00 p.m. Parking for Charter buses and oversize vehicles is $30.
Can we use public transportation to this facility from South Orange County?
Kathy Moran | Aug 25, 2019
Beverly Wilson | Aug 25, 2019
I think so. You would need to take a bus ( or 2), subways, and some walking in between. It will probably take a while! I suggest using Google maps, entering your exact address and choosing the transit option for suggested routes.
Good luck!
Parking is not free. There is a parking lot, but there is a charge.
Some nearby streets have meters, others have parking restrictions. Just read the posted signs.
There is the option of the Exposition train line. It has several stops along the length of Exposition Park.
The general museum is free. Special exhibits have admission costs for adults, like the current "Dogs! A science tail" exhibit which is $10 or $17 with IMAX movie. Kids are always free.
As stated, it's free. Some rides and attractions are fee based. When I was there the shuttle exhibit was free after 1 or 2. Not sure if it's the same every day, or how much it costs when not free. We were there on a Tuesday.
No, it was there for about a year and left mid January. We went twice and really enjoyed it. Fantastic display. Maybe in another city, Google is your friend.
Is it true that today everyone is welcome for free???
Hayro Valenzuela | Aug 25, 2019
Luis D. | Aug 25, 2019
Yes, for general admission only. If you want to see Shuttle Endeavor you'll have to pay a convenience fee, and there are still parking fees. You also need to pay if you want to see an Imax experience. The rest of the museum is free however.
The entrance fee is $0 but if you would like to visit the attractions such as the IMAX theater or the exhibits you will need money ranging from $12 and up
about how long does it take to get through the king tut exhibit? how much time should I set aside? I have the IMAX show at 5pm does that mean that we will enter the show at 5 pm even though the museum closes at 5pm? is there handicap parking?
Taylor Hanania | Aug 25, 2019
David Hernandez | Aug 25, 2019
Yes on the handicap parking. To go through the exhibit completely will take you under an hour and a half if you stop and enjoy every artifact. They let people go in groups of 30 to 50 people at a time. With a wait time of 10 minutes in between so they can move on along the exhibit ahead of you.
We also had an entrance to the space shuttle included in our King Tut tickets. That took about 15 minutes, but we didn't stop to do any of the interactive things because we were there right around closing time.

Not sure about Military discounts - sorry- But I was just at Gelsons and they have a limited time offer when u buy tix- promo code SHOPGELSONS - which gets you $10 off adult tickets.
It is an awesome place to shop!
Can you order King Tut souvenirs online from the gift shop?
Bonnie | Aug 25, 2018
Reviewer Klb | Aug 25, 2018
It certainly seems like that should be doable, but the only online shopping I could find is for items related to the Endevour project. You can call the museum at 323-724-3623 to see if Tut gifts can also be ordered. There were some very nice items reasonably priced, so if you can't get to the exhibit, I hope you find a way to do it.
Well tonget in is free and lot of exibitions are free to watch. But if u want to fo to endeaver its 4 dollars each person. King tut i belive is 8 dollar per person. There are other attactions like bike ride or shuttle simulators are usually 6 dollars each.
Amazing.....so beautiful . I wanted to buy a book of the exhibit . Short on funds at time , where can I buy one that includes only what was in this exhibit?

They sell all of their books on their website. They have their whole shop online. You should be able to find the specific book that way
how long is the combo pkg King Tut Exit with the Imax included
Pamela Dupree | Aug 25, 2018
Shondrea Wooden | Aug 25, 2018
Are you asking how long the package is available or how long it runs? It’ll be available until January and the exhibition itself is anywhere from 20-90 minutes usually and the imax is around 45 minutes on its own.
How long does is take to see the exhibition aprox?
Hans Nijman | Aug 25, 2018
Shondrea Wooden | Aug 25, 2018
Hi! I work in the exhibit and it depends on how much you’re interested in the things there. We’ve had people take anywhere from 30-90 minutes usually.
They have special summer hours just for the King Tut exhibit. It opens at 9AM and last ticketed entry time is 5:30pm. You must purchase tickets online and reserve your slots. It was sold out all afternoon on Sunday. Earlier the better to avoid crowds. There is an IMAX movie that for King Tut that can be purchased as well.
You can buy online or at ticket window... We bought online because we were driving from out of town. When we went, it was busy, but I don't think it was sold out.
It's not a wonderful area so I would go on TripAdvisor or Yelp or both for suggestions. The show is absolutely wonderful though. You and /or your children will love it!.
6$ for audio, but exhibits are so well captioned that they are not a must. The movie was not all about Tut but, to me, more useful for the atmosphere than audio. Also, members pay maybe 5$ less per ticket.
There is a food court option inside the center, adjacent the exit to the rose garden and gift shop. I have tried the pizza and the chicken nachos. Both selections were fantastic!!!! Also, there is a ice cream and coffee spot thay is fantastic. The food is good quality and the prices are fair. The ice cream inthought was rather inexpensive for the quality. The center removed all the fast food chains which i considered a great choice with the percentage of kids that visit yearly.
In my opinion, there are only a few things in display that will truly be interesting to your child. But there still are some really cool things in there, like Tut's casket and some really cool statues with spears and other weapons. In total, it took me and my family about an hour to an hour and a half to go through the whole exhibit.
I would attempt purchasing online and see if the Groupon works there. If it does, you have everything in hand rather than someone's word over the phone and you have ticket with date and time in hand.
I also recommend getting the first time slot if possible. The latter in the day, the more stragglers are in the exhibit with you. First tour, no stragglers.
You can also get senior discounts. I agree that you should pick the earliest time you can if you plan on seeing the shuttle and the IMAX film. We ordered tix 2 months ahead, and the earliest we could get tix for was 19:30 (opens at 10). We got there before 10 am and left at 4:30 PM, just to give you an idea of how time flies.
Hi. I paid $166 for 3 entries. Science center, natural history and aquarium of three Pacific. There is a combo for this 3 expositions!!! It's better and cheaper!!! =)
Not sure exactly what you are asking, but if you buy ticket they only set your start time and you can go at your own pace.
There are two parts to the exhibit and we spent about an hour in each half. They do not allow you to go back to the first half after leaving the first half. We purchased the audio option which may have extended our stay.
I would recommend going during the week and get the earliest time possible. That worked great for us. We have some friends that went on the weekend and they said it was very crowded and not as enjoyable.
We went on the first session of the day and mid week. Only issue was school kids, but it was not bad. They try to regulate the flow and did it pretty well. I could see later in the day it could get more clogged up as people lag behind.
They do not have headsets but a little device with a speaker and buttons to select what display you are at. Not all displays have a voice description, I'd say more than half, maybe three quarters do.
If he wants to visit the exhibit then I would explain all the to him, get tickets to an early session and during the week and not on the weekend. If he understands all this and wants to go, it's a once in a lifetime event and I'd do it. They say it will not be coming back.
How can I obtain an exhibit catalog online, failed to purchase anything the day I went to the exhibit and am now having second thoughts, would like to order a few things.....thank you so much.

The prices are on their website, and I recommend purchasing tickets online for convenience.

They let you in, in 15 min. intervals of you want a certain time it's best to get your tickets online. We were there at 11 and they were sold out until the 4 o'clock time..
How long does it normally takes to walk through the exhibits?
B. Jenkins | Aug 25, 2018
Stephen Ou (歐士聞) | Aug 25, 2018
Depending on how crowded on the day, it takes on average about 1.5 - 2 hours to walk through the exhibit, and more if you want to take time to read all the information on the walls and the artifacts.

There are tables inside and when I was there people had full coolers that they were eating out of. People are not allowed food or drink inside the museum.
The Endeavour Space Shuttle is here, but it is a view-only exhibit. No going in the craft, or climbing on anything. Still a really cool thing to see, especially for the price. Highly recommend!
The science center admission is free. Special exhibits, activities and souvenirs may be another cost. Additional fees are encountered when parking as well.
People mention the expensive parking. The expo line of the metro system has a stop across the street from the center. So if you use metro, this is good way to get there.
I also should mention that they charge something like $2 to be able to make reservations online. The site is a little misleading because it looks like you have to pay a $2 fee for each place you need an appointment (i.e. special exhibits, the Endeavour, etc.), but it's just one flat fee of$2 to make however many appointments you need.
There is talk about the space program, including some of the original capsules and the Endeavour. There are other things on space too. So those things fit in with the general discussion of space.
