In my opinion, there are only a few things in display that will truly be interesting to your child. But there still are some really cool things in there, like Tut's casket and some really cool statues with spears and other weapons. In total, it took me and my family about an hour to an hour and a half to go through the whole exhibit.
Before taking a younger child, give them some preparation on what they will be seeing. I know it's hard, but move them through more quickly than you would like. Then go back on your own and read every exhibit. LOL
The exhibit will not interst them. I have been twice an the crowds are still there. If you wish to see the exhibit and enjoy it have someone tour the rest if the center with the children while you see the exhibit.
Our 9 yr old really liked it. The 3 yr old might get restless and it's pretty dark inside the exhibit. If you can go during nap time it can work out perfectly.
Maybe the 7 year old might find the King Tutankhamun exhibit interesting. There are many interesting "kid" Science interactive displays for your children other than just King Tut. You could give them some time at the kid friendly displays and trade them to do the King Tut for yourselves. The Science Center is VERY child friendly, SCHOOL children were everywhere! There is a GREAT Botanical Garden out back plus a nice Park to let your children run/play in. The Endeavor Space Shuttle/ NASA exhibit is fantastic too!
Yeah young children I don't think can really appreciate but maybe a 4th and 5th grade would be more interested. One hour to hour in a half in time.
I am not so sure if it is appropriate for three year old and a 7 year old. The exhibit is beautiful but it is about the tomb. Might be more than three or seven year old want to deal with.
Yes...took a class of high school aged..barely kept most of them interested. Unless they are really into history. There are a huge amount of other interactive exhibits there that they would enjoy .
