I work for a company and we have to rent from Avis. The car are always dirty and not well kept no matter the city we get the car in and the reward program sucks. This trip, my check engine light came on and the car had to be switched out. I got off work at 7am after working 12 hours. Called Avis and was told to go to the Avis that was ten minutes away to change out the car. The place opened at 9am. So I stay up and I go and they don’t have any cars because they are sold out. The agent I spoke with could have checked and avoided all this. I was then told to call road side assistance which took about a hour to get all figured out and settled. I was told the car would take 4-6 hours to get to me at 1030am. The car didn’t get to me until after 9pm which resulted in me being 3-4 hours late for work. We never had this problem with National when we rented from and got nicer cars because their reward program was better and we rented so frequently. We have recommended switching back to National because this is an on going issue.

Service was amazing! Happy employees. Specifically Angel at the front counter who was so kind and professional at the same time. I needed the car for a family member who passed and he was so genuinely compassionate and professional that gave me comfort from a car rental agency. Because of him I will be a Avis customer the rest of my life. I have always been a Hertz fan but Avis showed me something better.

Wow! What a mess. We rented a car from Avis Car Rental. There were long wait times for literally everything. There were no good directions of where to go. There were multiple rental car companies in the same place and it wasn’t clear who worked for who. At the picked there wasn’t even a line, just a mass of people you had to push through to get attention.

Very bad experience… We rented a car in advance , followed all the procedures, even called their customer service for additional Info and to make sure everything was set and ready but once we got to the Avis location on San Diego Airport, they told us there were no cars available, and that we had to pay extra fees … also that we had to wait until they could find a car …. Even though we made our reservation in advance. What’s the point of going thru all of their procedures ? (because wasting time is exactly what you want to avoid ),and once you get to the place , they try to make you pay extra fees out of nowhere because they don’t have cars … who’s fault is that?! It’s definitely not the customer’s… Very disappointing experience . Awful unfriendly staff . Do yourself a huge favor and book with literally any of the other rental agencies here. There are so many better options!!!!

Yes
Flights don't leave 24 hours a day due to noise concerns.
Yes , a little wait that late. Less counter help.
If possible, go to the Avis website (with your reservation #) & modify.
If there's an Avis in that location, yes..
The San Diego Avis return near the airport should work fine. Just plan ahead. It's a ways from the airport terminal, and anything else for that matter.
I heard they are closing down real soon
It is open 24/7 so just reserve the car the day you needed, and come pick it up. Some hours are busiest so expect to take some extra time.
I think they put a $200 hold plus the rental amount on debit cards. Credit cards just get charged when you bring the car back.
Call them
Just call them
Yes, just cross road throught bridge from 2nd floor and there will be rental bus stop there. The bus will take you to another building where all rental companies are located.(no charge for bus)
Agree with Bill
What are the hours of operation for shuttle to and from airport
Definitely agree with calling. I've used their website before with no problems.
They have substantial information regarding their cancellation policies. I've included the link below for US based reservations: https://www.avis.com/en/customer-service/faqs/usa/reservations
Last time I was there there was signs and notices about not driving in Mexico. And warnings besides rental car companies about how risky Tijuana was. Might want to also check US state department web site advisories. Call Avid and ask what the current policy status is.
I believe you may be able to call and have them email you a copy.
There is a shuttle. Runs at regular intervals. Saturday will be a busy time so plan to be there ahead. It's not too bad but the shuttle can get crowded.
Yes if they have your itinerary
For returning rental car, drop the car at rental complex next to airport and take a shuttle bus from the complex to airport. This adds up 15 to 20 minutes to your time to airport.
I recommend you visit their website or contact them directly
It depends on locations, usually in airports you can pick up and drop off cars at any time and some locations have some sort of mail box so you park the car outside and leave the keys there, but once i had to drive from San Diego to Calexico CA in the middle of the night... SD was no problem but in Calexico i left the car parked outside and then i had to go back in the morning to formally do my check out...
