I requested a particular size of car , I got to check out they told me their wasn’t that size available anymore. They hustled me into a larger more expensive rental, when I got up to my suv their were plenty of available cars I requested. When we drove off 10 miles in an Engine light turned on that the car needed engine oil or to replace it. I tried calling the number in the receipt , no response. Had to pull in to a auto shop to add oil, every morning the center console was covered in ants and we got bit. Tried calling again so response.

This was one of the best car rental experiences I've had in a long time. I am a Fast Break member and usually still have to wait in the long line to get my car. This time, I was able to go straight to the Fast Break board to get my reservation information and go straight to my car. The car was very clean and smelled great (also something I haven't experienced in awhile). The staff was very friendly and fast when I returned my car.

When picking up the car, the rental agent said that she could not rent the car to me because the name on the credit card did not match the name on my driver license. My credit card had my first initial and my middle name while the driver license had my full first name, middle name and last name. She first she insisted that I needed to present a credit card that "matched my name" to which I replied that it is my name only presented slightly differently on the credit card. She was upset and said that it wasn't my name. Since this has NEVER happened to me before, I explained that I often go by my middle name. She then switched my first name to my middle name, indicated that she couldn't accept the credit card and proceeded to again insist on a credit card that had my name. When I explained that in the many years of using Budget rental, this has never come up. She said she had to "redo" the reservation and was acting annoyed by the entire transaction. When we got to the car, another person was in the car and said it was their rental. We had to call and agent over to figure out who's car it was, which was eventually resolved. (We both had the same reservation number and parking spot on our slip.) While driving Budget's car, it had a constant "engine service required" light on and the oil gauge would go on intermittently. I called Budget support and was told to ignore both lights. The Mazda is a very good car but the brakes did vibrate and shimmy when pressed (like they were warped). This leads us to be less enamored with Budget and the training of its agents and maintenance of its rental cars. Hopefully this is just an issue with San Diego rather than company-wide.

Usually five stars, but this time my rental experience was not 100% satisfaction. I picked my car and my Full size full covered car was not available so staff upgraded me for a black Mazda CX-5 with Nevada plates. Long story short, the rear windshield wiper was broken, gas was less than half tank, remote control was also broken and needed to push the door button every time to lock/unlock the car, suddenly the right rear tire protectors separated from chasis, and finally the SUV tended to go right while driving. I had to take the SUV to SAN airport rental hub for an exchange. Got my full size car, no upgrade, and invested 2 hours if my day. I am a business budget user and hope this will not happen again. This time satisfaction cannot be five stars.

There is a shuttle from the airport to all rental car agencies.
3rd floor of the car rental return building. Just use google maps and it will guide you right there. Its super easy too. Just park it and leave the keys then grab your bags and a shuttle to the terminal.
Call +1-800-214-6094 it's the national number. When I delt with Budget in San Diego I had the same issue. They probably won't be there when you go to pickup the car as well based on my experience so be ready to wait when you get there
Vehicles must not leave the state of California or Clark County, Nevada without the written consent of this Budget Rent-A-Car franchise. Customer must contact the counter prior to arriving to request consent to drive outside this area. All contracted coverage is voided if this rental agreement is violated and vehicle is driven outside the permissive geographic boundaries without our written permission. No other states are permitted. Travel into Canada is not permitted. Travel into Mexico is permitted with restrictions and purchase of additional insurance. Check with the rental location for details.
Generally yes, you'll pay a one way rental fee that can be a bit steep. Check their website and look for one way rental.
I have used the debit card in conjunction with my air travel bookings. There's an additional temporary hold fee.
GPS is an additional option for a daily fee. I'm usually able to connect my phone to the car and use my own maps.
They told me 10a.m. I was charged a full day extra for returning at 2 p.m. 6 p.m. is either not correct or they got me just because they can.
Great customer service they helped me out when I needed it, thank you San Diego budget 🤗😉👍😎💪
Yes but there will be extra charges. They may even make you get insurance threw them
Yes they do as long it's local to there location they will take you
You are asking the people who use Google not the car rental. The them a call or email them
Email them from there website or call 411 for there number. It's a car.rental place what more do you need to no. Yes they have shuttles from airport
They run really often. The shuttles are for all the rental cars.
Yes
Not from Budget but I think Enterprise might. They drove me home once.
Right out of the airport there are shuttle buses lined up directly across the street who jump on the shuttle and it takes you to the rental building
Try the national customer service number. They probably have an alternate local number.
Did not see any pickup trucks in the rental garage, only large suv and minivans Most of their fleet is a little older I think than some of the competitors. Also make sure you smell your car, there is a lot of humidity in that garage and if they don't air out the car it gets a musty smell, and has nothing to do with it being cleaned the second car they gave me was actually vacuumed less but didn't smell bad
Yes I agree with Rick.
All rental companies have child seats for rent. Check budgets web site for latest cost. Btw, it some times pays to recheck web site after you got rental confirmed, prices due change and no cost to canx and rebook unless youve done one of those prepay. Its happen more than a few times prices drop closer to date as they have too many cars.
Well threw Budget good chance your going to get a SUV for this excursion with chain's. Get that INSURANCE for sure!
You can also call main reservations number and they will either connect you or give you number
They have gsps for rent. I just use google maps to gsp on my phone.
IIRC it is to cover a cleaning fee if you bring the car back dirty/damaged or without a full tank of fuel. You should ask them directly if you have questions about fees.
There should be a customer service number on your contract paperwork
Not if u have a credit card
Yes, of course. Make a reservation in advance and consider the extra insurance in case something happens to the vehicle.
Yes you can...we rented in NY and returned it to San Diego a week later
Nope. Just credit card pre debit
Not sure exactly, but most rental companies will put about a $250 hold on your credit card. If you try to use a debit card, the hold is typically much higher.
No the airport closes after midnight until 6am
No they don't. You'd have to Uber/taxi there.
Yes but you have to get insurance on it for mexico
Yes you can, i just did that last November... You can use the hired cars within the state and Las Vegas and some other places i can't remember..
The car rental complex is focused on supporting San Diego airport. The only shuttles they have run to the airport.
Im not so sure that budget allows people to drive their cars into Mexico. Most places that allow it have a higher rate for cars that can go to mexico.
No
