Day 2 of our time with Red’s was awesome with Jack as our guide! Beautiful views, amazing water, and an inviting personality with our trusted guide. My son got on some great bows right away and my dad landed some of the landed some of the biggest trout of the weekend. Jack was encouraging and positive in his instruction even if he had to remind my dad to mend his casts each and every time. Thank you Jack for making a lifelong memory for our family!!!

My girlfriend and I did the Fly-fishing 101 and 201 class. It was awesome! We were able to take the information learned and begin fishing the next day. Mike and Joe were great instructors. I loved that they discussed equipment and strategy in detail. We looked at current bugs on the river in order to better chose a fly. We learned fish behavior to know where to cast our line. We practiced different types of casts and learned the most important knots. Great class.

Curtis Frisbie (and his Brittany Spaniel, Ryder) were the perfect guides for a Father’s Day float. He was amazing at educating with patience and finding us fish all day long. We will definitely book Curtis (and Ryder) again and I have already referred him to multiple friends and family. Thanks for the amazing day Curtis and Red’s!!!

I want to give Red’s a shout out as a top notch organization. I have been fishing the Yakima for many years - even when Red’s was just a trailer parked near the river! The place has certainly morphed over the years, yet has maintained excellent customer service without the pompous attitude many modern fly shops have. When in the shop, I am always treated respectfully and provided honest, great information. I especially want to recognize one of their great guides, Max Karns. Max worked hard on a recent trip to get us into fish- even when conditions took a turn for the worse. He even made the fish happy (see smiling fish pic!). I could ramble more about Max’s professionalism, personable persona, and customer focus, but will summarize with a sincere “Thanks” to Max and Red’s for another awesome experience … keep up the good work! -Dan Davey

Awesome! This is exactly what we strive for. Thanks so much for the purchase, support, and kind feedback. We appreciate you and wish you the best of luck with your new Echo rod.

I have a 9 foot Sage xi2, 6 wt. I use it primarily for saltwater speckled trout. Im going to Montana this summer and would like to line it up for Spey casting. Can you recommend a set up for me?

I would use the OPST Commando Smooth, its whats called an integrated line which makes it easier to strip flies back in after swinging them in current. I would use a 250 Grain head on that rod and use 7.5' OPST Commando Sink tips in various rates. Here is a link to the line, and it must be used with some type of tip just FYI - Good luck! https://redsflyfishing.com/products/opst-commando-smooth-integrated

hi i have redington dually 6wt 11ft fly rod. which line is best

If it's a weight 6 then you have to use weight 6. If your going after trophy trout on Yakima River you're going to need a bigger reel. You need a Reel that's for weight 9 or 10, that's what i used. I recommend a Orvis Battenkill Reel. With Rio Weight Forward Line floating of course. But anyways if your Rod Line Weight says 6wt then you need a Reel that's for 6 as well. You need to match them accordingly to the Line size.

I am looking to add a rod for streamer fishing on Western rivers. I assume a 6wt to compliment the 4 wt I use for dry flies and the 3 wt I use for euronymphing. Can you make some suggestions in the mid price range? Thanks

Hi Stephen, good plan. I personally LOVE my Sage PAYLOAD 8'9" 6 weight. In the $300 range go for the Redington Predator. If you can swing the PAYLOAD however that's the rod!

When does white fish season open on Yakima river this year

Year round, limit 15, no min size, selective gear only. Download the Fish Washington app or obtain a pamphlet via https://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing. Tight lines!

I have a TFO Axiom II 6wt switch rod. Would the echo ion be a good fit? If so what size would you recommend? Any other reel suggestions? Thanks -Cooper

The Echo ION 7/9 would be great, but the Echo Bravo 7/8/9 is a step up. Both great values, and tough to beat at those prices!

Have #8 single handed fly rod , want to try spey line for it, need to know the size I should get. Thanks.

I would suggest a 275 Grain OPST Commando Smooth. I used this line a few days ago in a lighter weight single handed and loved it. I encourage you to match it with T8 sink tips, Riffle, Run, and Bucket from OPST.

Hi, I have been fishing for about 3 years but have had little success when trying to set hook on strikes 40 + feet away. Do you set the hook differently or is the timing different? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
