It you are into Disney and want to see how it all began this is the place. An in depth history of Walt Disney and his beginnings. So many videos, artifacts and some amazing displays. The enthusiastic and helpful staff will make this visit that much better.

What better place than the Presidio to have the Disney Museum. With the Golden Gate Bridge in the foreground and a view of Alcatraz, this is a must destination for tourists who love Disney. There is ample parking but I would recommend arriving early. Masks are not required but recommended by staff. We saw the majority of people with their masks on. Tickets are expensive but affordable and they take care of "veterans." You can purchase tickets at the door or through their website. There are several floors packed with Disney artifacts which tells about the origins of this iconic park and the man who made it possible. There are many hands on exhibits and animations to satisfy the most harden Disney fan. Although the gift shop was small and the cafe closed, our overall experience was satisfying.

This museum dives so much deeper into what Walt Disney was beyond Disneyland. The artifacts and information are informative and engaging. The layout let's you experience everything easily and the staff are friendly, professional, and accommodating. If you drive there, pack a lunch and have a picnic on the grassy area for exceptional views.

Walt Disney's daughter opened this non-profit museum which is wonderful. Spent 3 hours there- amazed at the talent of Walt Disney. Truly an inspiration. Could have spent more time there, but due to Covid-19 only limited seating to get off your feet. Must wear masks and easy to socially distance, but wear good walking shoes. Older folks could have issues with no place to sit down to take a break. Gift shop is open with Amazing books found. Cafe is closed due to pandemic. My take away is Walt persevered, learned to diversify, knew he had to spend money to bring something to fruition & he kept on creating well into his 60s! Wonderful museum! A must see! Walt did really make the world a better place!

$25 General Admission for the main galleries, and $10 for the special exhibits only. Or, you can get a discount combo ticket for the main galleries and special exhibit for $30. There's also a $5 discount off the regular price for seniors.
I went with my older uncle and aunt (70s) and we spent about 2.5 hours. It honestly depends on how you like to explore museums. There are a lot of interactive displays.
Parking is available throughout the Presidio and is metered, paid parking throughout the park. Parking is free after 6 PM. Its around 8$ for the whole day and around 1.80$ an hour.
There are somethings a greater like short cartoons that a plus 6 year old would enjoy as well as if they have a movie scheduled for that day.
My recommendation is to call and speak with ticket services as they are currently requiring reservations and if they book up, you're out of luck for the day. They are also open limited hours/days with a limited number of guests in the museum per cue time. They also have a special exhibition going on featuring World War 2 animation which is pretty cool, but a separate ticket from the museum experience, also requiring a reservation. As someone else said... They are flexible and will work with you to accommodate your needs.
I think it is safe to say that in all places all over the world it is probably the best idea to wear a face covering. However I'm not sure if they are open yet to the public. You might want to contact them directly
The virus
Yes but just keep in mind that there's a lot to see and a last entry time of 4:45 which doesn't really allow enough time to see everything at a relaxed pace!
The family lives in northern California . They thought it would be the best place to have it. It's an 1800s old army. barracks near the Golden gate bridge
The Walt Disney Family Museum welcomes service animals. Under federal law, service animals are dogs trained to work or perform tasks for the benefit of people with physical or mental disabilities. The work or tasks performed by a service animal must be directly related to the handler’s disability. Additionally, service animals must remain under their handler’s control at all times while inside the museum. Dogs or any other type of animal or pet whose sole function is to provide comfort, companionship, or emotional support—such as a support animal—do not qualify as service animals under federal law and are not permitted in the museum.
Parking, most of which is metered/paid parking, is available throughout the Presidio. Please be aware that the rates are different depending upon the location of said parking as well as the day of the week. There is street parking in front of the museum, a lot in front of the museum, and a lot behind the museum. The parking lot behind the main museum building has handicap accessible parking available.
Admission for adults is $25, youth (ages 6-17) $15, children ages 5 & under are free. Parking costs in the Presidio is as follows: Weekdays: $2 per hour; $10 max Weekends: $2.20 per hour; $11 max Learn more: www.waltdisney.org/visit
It’s not open on Martin Luther King Day but it is open on Martin Luther King JR. Day.
Yes there is a nice cafe inside
$25 for adults - they had an additional exhibit when i went this summer that could be added (chose not) onto the entrance fee.
I agree with Andrew, while there are places to stay near by and this would allow for walking directions you'll likely stay somewhere not on the Presidio and would need a car service (Uber, Lyft, cab, rental). It is certainly worth either to visit this unique family museum.
There is metered street parking directly in front of the museum, but no parking lot specifically for the museum
Call them to find out.
They do have some pins. I wish the gift shop had more stuff though!
We don't offer reservations for wheelchairs but many are available and can be requested at our ticket desk in person.
I believe there are accommodations for that. There are several different parking areas located in the area. It's a very large area and there are several other venues. I believe it used to be a military base.
Check the home page of their website.
$25 for adults $20 for seniors 65+ $20 for students $15 Youth (6-17)
Open daily 10-6pm EXCEPT Tuesdays, January 1, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Last entry is 4:45pm
It's Pretty expensive. 35 bucks a person. The little ones will get bored fast. Good place for adults
No. It's more of a museum about Walt Disney himself, and animation/art in general rather than the Disney the brand.
