We did the museum tour, which I think is a good thing to do BEFORE going around and looking at the rest of the museum. It was helpful to start with an understanding of the history of the business and shipyard. The preservation of the buildings all these years is remarkable, and kids should have plenty of entertainment during their visit. There are lots of smaller indoor exhibits, like the lobstering exhibit that are interesting for learning about the modern fishing industries.

Constructive feedback: Customer service has to get better. I was not informed about the cruise ride when I bought my admission tickets at the front desk. Rather than that, great place to study and learn more about the maritime history of Maine.

This was an amazing museum to see the history and documentation on Shipbuilding in Maine. Many model ships, lighthouse exhibit, engine works, plus you have all the original buildings that were used to plan, fabricate, and build ships. It was a real eye opener for lobster fishing is a dedicated building. As well as the had a remarkable painters exhibit, Arthur Beaumont. His watercolors are breathtaking. Allow plenty of time to explore as there is much to see and walk too. Strollers would be fine outdoors with ease. Wheelchairs if not motorized may have some difficulties in areas.

Fantastic One of the best cruises I've ever taken. Great views up and down the river, and a Very educated Talk by the guide along the way. It was a perfect sunny day which made even better. I learned a lot about bath iron works and the industry in the surrounding area. Excellent highly recommended. Museum is also very informative with excellent exhibits.

I'm sure you could talk to someone at the museum about it
Yes, but contact them directly.
Please visit the museum to find out about Captain Quick.
Yes! Not alot of them but there is definitely some!
Hi Nick (and everyone!) All dogs are welcome (and encouraged!) on the south end of our campus. It's open to the public and we even have a little poop station! Service animals are welcome, but pets and support animals are not permitted in any building or in the shipyard. For our visitors who are looking for off-leash opportunities, the South End Dog Park is also right on the Kennebec about a five-minute walk from the museum.
They haven't held the Festival of Trees in a few years. You are right that the MMM was the location for it once, and I attended several other locations around town. It was a fun event! The Festival was a fundraiser for the YMCA, I believe.
http://www.mainemaritimemuseum.org/visit/hours-fees/ You can ask a question on Google, but not Google the admission fee?
I think yes! We just did land and sea tour and it was all wheelchair accessible!
On August 29th they have an event called Songs for the Mary E: Remberance of her years in Greenport. Their full fall schedule of events is not yet posted.
June 9th
It really depends, it can be a great time of year to travel to Maine but it's still common to see snow in early Spring
