There's only a few spots where I could say I actually needed the high clearance (I drive a 4runner). You could make it in a car with an experienced driver that can pick easy lines and stay 100% alert on the drive in and out. It will be very bumpy tho. Be careful. Towing someone out of there wouldn't be fun or cheap.
My friend made up in a Subaru
Our outback made it in about 30 minutes with no problem. But a guy in a little old civic behind us made it up in about 45 minutes with no problems. You just need to pay attention to where you put your tires.
Took me about 30 mins in a high clearance vehicle, but that were minimal bumps. If your not good at spotting low spots in dirt, you might ask someone to walk a line for you. Rangers make sure it has at least one line where sedans can make it. Don't be afraid to use both sides of the road
Thank you all for the feedback. I'm looking forward to being there on the last weekend of this month. Cheers!
Drive slow, for normal cars and sedans and regular stock tires. Zig zag driving helps. Takes like 15 to 20 mins. Make sure you have air in your tires and a spare just in case.
I've taken a 535XI BMW up it but it was certainly rough and took paying attention 100% of the time to find a good line. 10/10 do not recommend but it is doable in a car.
30 minutes to an hour. You absolutely need a high clearance vehicle with at least proper tires.
Maybe 45 minutes? It was pretty slow going in an outback, very bumpy with all the rocks
