Great BLM space. Wide open.

Easy entrance to Lake Como Rd., yet I hear the drive to Lake Como is the toughest 4x4 road for accessing a 14er... Can't wait to try hiking or biking it!

The view is beautiful and the free camping is awesome. During my time here the weather was cold, wet and cloudy. From what I'm told even if it's sunny it rarely gets warmer than the mid 70s during the day. Nights even in the summer can be cold. Today is June 1 and it was 37 degrees Fahrenheit at 6AM. It is also always windy. You will never go a day without wind and many times quite strong winds at that. So while it is beautiful it's not a place I want to stay for very long. It is however very close to the great sand dunes national park which is worth while to visit. This is a dry camping area which means no garbage cans, no water, no bathrooms and no power.

A great place to sleep for the night, you can go up the rough dirt road to more secluded campsite or you can do what everyone else does late at night and just park at the base of the mountain near the information sign. Very quiet. No facilities as per usual with these types of campsites but you do get a gorgeous view of the mountain.

No. No restrooms or any utilities either. Zapata falls campground is about 25 minutes away (past a pretty rough dirt road) if you're looking for camping sites that have water and the like.
