I had read somewhere that this was a dinner train on some nights? Is that still the case? Was it ever the case? I'm not finding any reference to a dinner event.

Yes, there are a number of dinner events. Personally, I have been on the "elegent dining" ride and it was a great time. If the events are not listed now, maybe they list them closer to the event dates. I thought that it was well worth the experience and would suggest going.
