Even with our group deciding not to ride the train, it was really cool. The historical trains were very well maintained and it was crazy to see how far we’ve come. The museum itself was completely free and we spent a good hour just exploring the multiple buildings filled with historic items, trains, and tracks.

Great place to visit! The train is definitely worth riding on to get a feel for what the old time railroads were like. They have two buildings of fully or partially restored railroad engines and cars. The gift shop has good prices on a few Lionel cars.

Great little train ride. The employees are very knowledgeable about the history of the area and the trains - makes it fun. Check it out.

It was an excellent experience riding in a train car that was built in 1900 with stained glass windows and seats that flip so you can ride forwards or backwards. The conductor yells, "All Aboard" and punches your ticket once you are underway. He also provided a lot of history along the way and told us the meaning of train whistles at crossings. The ride is about 50 minutes total-out 20 min, 10 min to switch the engine and 20 min back. Fall colors weren't quite peak this weekend, it will be even prettier scenery then. Other cars can be viewed in sheds and around the property. Gift shop and outdoor seating and food was available. Very enjoyable trip for young and older.

No model railroad layout. There are wig wag crossings on the grounds but are currently not operational.
They are actively restoring a steam engine but it is not in service at this time
Yes the train still goes if it's raining.
It is being restored they hope to have it back in the next year.
I agree. Check out the website for updates. But I also agree that a double or even triple header would be nice to see one day.
