I am looking for a person that can tell me how to deduct the costs of the assisted living home my mother is in. Since she does not live with me, I don't think I can claim her as a dependent, yet I am paying most of the cost of the facility. Help?

A parent is not required to live with their child to qualify as a dependent. The IRS has an interactive assistant which can help you determine whether or not your parent qualifies as a dependent at this link.https://www.irs.gov/help/ita/whom-may-i-claim-as-a-dependent . We will certainly be glad to help with any tax problems or tax return preparation if you still have questions. Please call (713) 520-0010 to schedule a consultation.
