Area 5 is where the dogs can go in the water. We asked when entering the park. Take the paths down, the rocks can be dangerous.
No they don't allow dogs in the water or off leash. Down in area 5 off the main path there are trails(15' from water the path is so "trails" are short) to go to more of a secluded area behind the tree line. But if they see you in the water they tell you to move on, get dog on leash ect.
Officially, no dogs in most areas of park. Go to isolated west end, where no else goes, area 5.
To my knowledge no pets are allowed at any place in the park except for the campsites or some of the trails.
I don't have a dog. So I can't tell you.
There is a section of shore that is not "guarded" in the west end of the park where we and many others were able to take our dogs. It was very nice area with room to have a picnic and play in the water.
As long as no one is in close contact with the dog. I see dogs in the water all the time. I'm sure you can contact the park and see if they have a separate area for animals.
