Even though the.nature center is fairly small, it is fun to walk around and check out the wildlife. I could sit quietly and watch birds there all day. The rangers are super nice as well. I highly recommend visiting.

Great places to get out and walk

Very accessible location with a glass enclosed view of large pond in the bookstore. Bookstore also provides restrooms near trails leading to river.

Horrible experience paid my money to get in I couldn't go in. Had two dogs with me that were tiny but they weren't allowed. If you wanted to walk your dog there's a sidewalk next to some houses at the edge not a good experience.

Their observation room has a great view of the water. The marsh has its own viewing blind. Beautiful place to visit any time of year
There is a little area there by the education building where, from what I recall, are a few picnic tables.
The Rio Grande Nature Center State Park does not have any running trails. The adjacent city trail, Paseo del Bosque, is approximately 16 miles. Additional information can be found on the city Open Space Division website. https://www.cabq.gov/parksandrecreation/open-space/lands/paseo-del-bosque-trail
Hi JIm, Pets are allowed in the parking lot and on the adjacent city trails, but not in the park itself in order to protect wildlife and habitat. A map is available on the Friends' website, RGNC.org.
Yes. Two porta potties are available in the parking area. One is ADA compliant.
Hi Linda, There are beavers in the irrigation ditches and river adjacent to the park. We spot them swimming in the ponds within the park on occasion too! We also see muskrats in the ponds.
Hello Mike! The parking lot is big enough for a camper, but as others have mentioned, we are a day use only park. The gates are open from 8 am until 5 pm. There is no camping allowed at the park or in the Bosque.
Please do not feed bread ever to ducks or any birds. It molts their feathers, damages their wings so that they cannot fly and often die. :/
Hi Matthew! No hunting within the Park or adjacent Bosque. We do, however, encourage you to take as many pictures of the ducks as you'd like!
Hi Melissa! Although rattlesnakes do use the Bosque as habitat, we have not had any reports of them in the Park for many years. You may be interested in visiting the Rattlesnake Museum in old town to learn more about snakes!
Hi Axl! We ask that visitors take only memories and leave only footprints (preferably on designated trails!). Enjoy the park!
Hi Albert! Herbfest is May 11th and 12th. Bird walks are at 8:30 and the other events begin at 10 am.
Rio Grande Bird Research has been banding birds here for more than 35 years. You can find more information on their Facebook page and on the Friend's of the RGNC website, RGNC.org. Thanks for visiting the Park!
You must walk your bike on the Nature Center paths, but there is an adjacent bike path that connects to the nearby Bosque trail network.
