No. Do not swim in the water it is very dangerous despite looking calm and inviting. The sand creates holes that suck people down and drown them while the surrounding water is very shallow. I would bet that it's not allowed anyways, but safety is the number one priority.
I'm sure water is not fit for swimming. Also, must be aware of Rio Grande current!!

No, its sectioned off. U must stay on the path provided. And the view of the little lake it limited...but there is a path to the a stream close by. The bridge goes over the stream and leads to trails.
