If you want to find a spot it's smart to reserve. Some weekends they sell out the entire park.

Way better to reserve if you want to stay anywhere in the park. We've been going there for years and during peak times it's always been fairly busy/ full
It's always been full when I've been there. I would check in advance before just assuming you can find a spot.
