Your best bet would be to go to the shelter, but keep in mind that not all available dogs are in the shelter. Many are being fostered in homes. If they don't have exactly what you're looking for on site, ask about the dogs in foster care. Another thing to keep in mind is these people are all about saving animals. They may not be experts on breed characteristics. Do your own research on what breed of dog sheds the least. Also keep in mind that these animals, like people, need time to adjust to new situations. The most important thing to have ready when you take an animal into your home is your commitment to the animal. A little extra hair or an accident on the floor is no reason to turn an animal's life upside down. If you're not ready for a new member of your family, please don't go.
Not sure if they have any, but dogs like Yorkshire Terriers have a specific kind of hair that makes them hypoallergenic. While most dogs at the shelter are mixed, that trait could still come up. You'd have to go there and see for yourself.
You will have to go to the shelter to look. All dogs shed, some dogs will shed less, but most of the dogs at the shelter are mixes, so it's hard to say. Dogs cannot be held for you, so yoy will need to go into the shelter, as it's firs t come, first serve.
