The sound, the clarity and the size of the screen are the most obvious differences. Action and effects films like STAR WARS are perfect for IMAX 3D. The 3D is subtle and immersive. You must try it.

Imax has better sound and visual effects.
In addition to the size and resolution being larger and better in IMAX, you may be able to see clearer if you wear glasses. I've seen movies with friends who wear glasses that have a hard time viewing regular 3D.
The only difference is the resolution, Imax 3D offers more resolution for viewers but that's it. My advice would be to save your money and see regular 3D.
I just went to an iMax movie and I couldn't tell you the difference.
The screen is not a flat it has a curve to it and depending on theatre it has reclining seats
