Best bet is to go early or go on a weekday. 10am - 2/3 is best with traffic and parking.

All beaches in New York state 50% capacity so you have to leave early to get parking. And it's $10 to park your car

Yes, it is $3.00 or $6.00. Just bring $10.00. Plenty of parking space. We were there at 8:45 am till 3:00pm.
