Very quiet and spacious campground/sites, wonderful places to walk, and beautiful scenery!

Great wooded camp sites. Clean bath houses.

A bunch of easy little trails.

This is a wonderful state park! We camped in D section with water and electric. The sites are well space, well maintained and level. The bathrooms and showers are really good, for a state park, and there’s actually a camp host that drives around and greets you. So many places say there’s a camp host but the site will be empty. The roads are well maintained as are the hiking trails. The signage along the trails is fantastic, and since there are A LOT of trails crossing each other, it’s vital so you don’t get lost. The woods are gorgeous. We only have one day here, passing through on the way to The Smokies, but will definitely camp here again.

Yes .as long as you keep your lights on if your not dock at the dock .
Between the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day, guarded beach swimming is available for a fee. The swimming area has a diving tower, snack bar and gift shop. Operating hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends.
Yes. The pass is good for the day. in fact you could visit another State Park on the same day like New River Trail.
Sorry, no. When those bathhouses were built no one envisioned needing them. As we replace them we add laundry facilities. The closest laundromat is three miles from the park in the Lancer Travel Plaza.
Not sure what you are asking but I don't see a park event with music scheduled for that day.
it is a lake... you can rent boats and kayaks. for tubing you need to go down river (~ Radford)
There are snakes in the area but areas with heavy traffic usually deter them. If you see a snake get a Ranger and leave the area. Snakes that are venomous in this area typically have cat-like slitted eyes & larger jaws.
There is a foot wash halfway up the path but the restrooms have showers to rinse off.
dcr.virginia.gov outlines how annual passes are accepted at all State Parks, including Senior passes
I am not positive I understand your question. Yes you can reserve a site for your tent. If your question is whether there is an area just for tents, the answer is no. Campground D has electric and water and larger sites so many RVs choose that area. But smaller RVs and popups in addition to tents book in campgrounds A, B and C which do not offer hookups and a maximum equipment length of 20 feet. We allow any equipment that meets the site's size requirements to camp. We would also allow a tent to camp in D.
Yes must stay on a 6ft leash we took our dog with us. Just not allowed on the beach. You may be asked to show a proof of rabies vaccination at the check in at the ranger station.
No sewer hookups, we have a dump station. We have sites with water and electric but be careful because we also have sites that do not have hookups (standard) so make sure you get what you need.
Yes. Dogs must be kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet, you must clean up after them, they cannot be allowed unattended, they cannot enter public buildings including restrooms and bathhouses, and they are not allowed on the swimming beach. If you are staying in a cabin we charge $10 pert pet per night. No extra charge for day visits or camping.
I have Verizon and have not had any issues anywhere in the park including on the lake (boat)
Go on their website and under the camping and lodging tab you will find an online reservation link or a number to call.
4.00 adults 3.00 kids for weekends and 3.00adults on weekdays
Yes, $10 per pet per night plus tax.
We have electric and water campsites and then standard sites that have no hookups, no electricity or water. In Virginia State Parks primitive means no hookups and no bathhouse.
The park doesn't offer any transportation but I think there is Uber. Call the park directly and see what is available locally. 540-643-2500
As far as we know.
Yes. If you are looking at Labor Day - come early to make sure you get one.
Yes they have a place to fill your water tank and empty your sewer waste.
I think for campers if you park one there year round. You would need to call that particular area.
Google "claytor lake state park events" and the results will list the events and dates
They have some cabins i think and there is some hotels nearby. Also you can rent campers
I think it was about $30.00. Check the web site.
Are you asking if swimming is closed or close by? Yes, there's a beach with swimming within walking distance of the cabins, inside the park.
I really don't know sorry. You could check with rangers office for that info. Good luck Debra
It's also possible to rent a boat with a driver, but it's not like a dinner cruise or riverboat sort of option.
