Loved it. We stayed in one of the villas. It was very well appointed. 5th he rangers and facilities people we spoke to were very pleasant and professional. Lots of great hiking in the area.

Always a pleasant place to visit. Clean. A hidden gem in SC.

Lake Jocasee is breath taking. It is so clear that they actually offer scuba diving here. There are a couple of places to launch your boat. There are picnic tables, places to fish, clean restrooms, a ranger station and a small shopping venue. There is a place to rent kayaks, canoes or even motorized boats. There is a waterfall on the lake, but is only accessible by boat. The park is exceptionally clean.

big beautiful lake loved it

Yes. There are good beginner trails that go to the lake, and some moderate ones too. Great views as well. Edit as of 2020: the trail that went to the lake had been closed so the park can expand. There is still a trail that goes with a creek, but not one with lake access or views. You can still just hang around the lake though.
You can, but make sure the coals are cool enough when you dispose if them!
During the summer, the park is open until 9 PM. The office and store close at 5 PM.
Nope. The park is on a man-made hydroelectric lake in the foothills/lower mountains of SC/NC. It is fed by mountain streams and rivers, so it is refreshingly cool even in summer. There is some fishing on the lake, but no crabs or crawfish. It is also pretty far from a selection of common restaurants.. nearest being in Seneca or Greenville.
Copied from the Devil's Fork State Park website: $5 adults; $3.25 SC seniors (age 65 & older); $3 children ages 6-15; ages 5 and under, free. Camping and Villa rental fees can be found on the website as well.
Yes, at the campsites (walking distance) and cabins.
Yes

You have to pay the state park's entrance fee of $5 per person in order to hang by the lake. Most waterfalls are only accessible via boat or long hike.
These are the rates, hope it helps! https://eclecticsun.com/rates/
The hiking trails aren't difficult if you have little ones. But no true "bike" trails. Totally worth the trip, one of the most beautiful parks is South Carolina. The camping area is perfect for the family. Nice and clean, and people respect the rules.
Yes
They fill up fast it's very popular. You will need to contact the park. Google them
Call Duke Power or Ranger Station and leave message.
There are grils there but you may want to bring your own as the grills get used up fast!.
No
Dogs and lakes go together! Don't know about cabin rules..
There's a little store right there to the right before you get her Devil's Fork. And I want to say like 50 bucks something like that
Very deep close to the shoreline. Diving is safe almost anywhere.
Yes within walking distance. There is also a dock to walk out onto.
You want to make it an early morning trip. There are several falls on the lake that will take you at least a day to few by kayak. Of course boat is easier but still early morn is best due to heavy traffic on water.
It's about 3 miles. There used to be a map inn the state parks web site.
No. Long term residency is not allowed on South Carolina State Parks.
This would be a question for the Park Ranger....you can call the office. The "best" is subjective depending on what you want/need. I think it was so beautiful there any site would be great
It is very busy.. Yes it opens at 7... Get here early if your want to get in
No they do not have a mountain bike trail.
There are rv spots and tent spots.
Some villas are close perfect for a large group. Some are further away
Check the peak color chart for this area. If you have not booked a site it may be quite difficult this short of notice
I'm not sure I would give them a call in the morning
They are blooming now we just visted 2 days ago.
Yes, I agree with everyone else. There are even picnic tables for day campers located throughout the park. 2 showers are available in the bathrooms, and sometimes there is a long line, so you will want to time it right when you want to take a shower. The only sites that don't have picnic tables or shower access are the boat in campsites.
Ingles in West Union SC is 17 miles from Devils Fork State Park.
Correct
I was going to say that it might take a little muscle but they look movable:)
Shouldn't be very busy. It's already slowing down.
Yes the Indian Princess "Jocassee" in folklore. Jocassee = The Place of the Lost One
Ummmmm ..... yes.
Wife and I stayed in one of the campsites provided and there is a fire pit for you to have a fire near the water. Its probably 15 to 25 feet from the wster
Brown trout. Spotted bass. Smallmouth.
We camp out there so its included to the payment.
Few minutes they also have a parking in f Jto site
No report. Water looks good all the way down to the waterfalls.
No, you don't have to hike. You can enter the park with your car and then park very close to the beach.
Agree with the other guides, grills, picnic tables, as well as access to gorgeous lake Jocassee.
No. There is not. The banks are all rock that you have to crawl over to get to the water. Lake Keowee would be a safer option. I wish it would let me add a picture and I could show you.
You must have your own grill ,(some shelters have one , some no) ,no fire on the ground, everything else ok
We didn't go up to the designated beach area because it didn't look like we could easily get our stroller there and no shade. There is a small beach area access near the campsites. Also no way for stroller but there was shade. There were small rocks in this area. Definitely need water shoes My 4 year old loved it. And we held our 4 month old.
I just stayed in the villas for memorial day weekend and yes no pets allowed
It's the Devil's and who's going to go messing with him ?
Yes, book early in season..fill up fast
Yes trails are marked & maps available.
Bring your own or stop by the gas station on the way in.
I know there are sites you can camp that are only accessible by boat so I am assuming you can but you may want to double check with main office.
https://southcarolinaparks.com/devils-fork/lodging?limit=19 Scroll down to see pictures
The best spot by far is RV loop 16
Hahaha good try bro, but seriously try main lake points and blow downs
Bring your own or sleep under the stars.
Yes. Tent and RV camping are available. The prices are on their website.
You need to call and ask them that information.
No, 2 tents max
These people don't know what they're talking about they have standard sites which have power outlets and they have primitive sites which do not have power outlets. They also have cabins you can rent I go to Devil's state park at like 3 or 4 times a year. I wish that people that didn't know what they were talking about or wasn't absolutely sure wouldn't answer and call their self a local guide. Devil's Fork and all state parks have a telephone number and a state park ranger or Rangers in an office with a telephone and all you have to do is call and ask and they'll tell you everything you need to know about this park and any of them.
If you are looking for more back country camping check out the foothills trail. It runs through the Jocassee gorges are.
Lay down in a state of confusion.
