Always a pleasure to visit Stokes State Forest. The wild trout streams, Stony Lake the walking and hiking trails give you ample opportunity to experience wildlife and escape.

very nice remote state park. lots of space. You might want to get a map because you can drive a long way. Lots of nice trails with access to the AT as well. I've stayed in the Shotwell area (lean-to's) and Lake Ocquittunk area (cabins) both are well kept. No showers in the Shotwell area. The lean-to's are really an enclosed shelter with a woodstove (nothing else)

Think it's open
That is dependent on where you choose to picnic. If you picnic near Stoney Lake there is plenty of parking. Then it's a matter of unloading your stuff, walking in & picking a spot. There is also a picnic area at Kittlefield & a parking area there as well.
Enter Stokes Forest State Park off of 206, go in maybe 1/4 mile, first left turn, there is a sign pointing the way, keep going can't miss it on your right. Use your smart phone, Google maps.
As far as I can tell, its been open. The sign is no longer there.
Yes, the cabins are back in use. Hard to book so book early. We never had a bad rental experience.
There are lean-tos available year round and cabins available April thru December. Also campsites but you need camping gear for them
No, but there are showers at the group campsites, the beach area and Lake Ocquatank campung area.
