You can use a Jewelry cleaner, but like Nathan said, you need to know whether it is Real Silver , Real Gold or if the earrings are Fashion/Costume (plated) jewelry. If they are NOT real Silver or Gold, then putting them in a Jewelry Cleaner will make it worse. If the earrings are Real Silver then make sure you use a cleaner specific to Silver jewelry & do not leave your earrings in the jar for more than 1 to 2 minutes. Most cleaners will have directions on it as well.
You need to know what kind of metal the earrings are, and then check the bottle of your cleaner which metals you can and cannot clean. If compatible use the cleaner and gently buff the earrings after with a clean jewelry cloth or microfiber cloth. If you don't have a cleaner use a dish of warm water, baking soda, salt, and dish soap. Soak a few minutes then buff clean
