Why do the postman put mail in the screen door instead of opening the screendoor and put the mail in the mail slot and why does he deliver the mail so late i get my mail sometime after 6 pm

Regarding the the slotting of mail he is required to put it in the door slot, late mail could be is overtime after he finished his route

That seems to be the new norm. I don't have an snswer but I notice they do not take the time to ring the bell when the package is to big for the door slot or the screen door is locked. Even with a sign posted to ring the bell and leave the package. My mail used to be delivered after noon, now it is also delivered after 5pm. Sorry I don't have the answer but I do see similarities.
