Terence, parking for the park is about $10. You can take the pics anywhere for free but if you want to reserve an area to have it for yourselves its $75

It is a public park. If you are using a model or intend to shoot for commercial intent then a permit is required. There is a $10 daily parking fee. The permit is online and can be easily found via a google search for NYS park photoshoot permit.
Photo shoot no need to have permit , if your family will have BBQ in the park you have to secure permit or show that you live nearby in the area. There are days no need to pay the parking, If you park your car in the street before Glen island , then walk to the Glen island park better.
It can be windy being it's on the water bring lots of sand bags.
