The MVA website says i can buy a transponder for $41 at Giant or Weis or MVA. That includes a 16$ fee. I’ve also read a press release where Hogan says no more upfront fees. Where do I get a free transponder? The MVA website doesn’t tell

The Gov. wants pay by license plate. You would no longer need an EZPASS in MD, but you would need to register online and provide a credit card number. This is not available yet, and it would not allow you to pass through tolls put of state without paying cash.

As I understand it, the $16.00 is for the transponder itself, not an upfront fee related to the activation or use of the transponder. The best way to get an accurate answer is to call the EZ Pass administration office or personally visit on of the office s along I-95, I-895 or US The 40. The staff there can answer your questions in detail.
