I have an MRI schedule for my head. I have sciatica. Will I be able to have pillows for my head and shoulders? Also, how long will the MRI take? Should I ask my doctor for a pill to relax me?

Nancy- For a Head MRI your head is placed into a head imaging coil. It will not accommodate a traditional pillow. We do need you to position you fairly flat on the imaging table for this exam. Feel free to call our office (585) 341-9100 to speak to one of the MRI technologists for more details.

The length of the exam depends on the procedure and if there will be contrast and the MRI techs will do what they can to make you as comfortable as possible.
