If you're worried about the heat, I would get there when it opens. That way you can see the whole thing and finish by lunch, before it gets too hot. Most of the zoo is shaded too, so you won't be in direct sunlight most of the time.
When they open is the best time. With the heat the animals are not as active
You need at least 2-3 hrs to see everything and some parts of the zoo like aquarium, snakes are inside that will give you some time get cool and rest
I've gone on a busy day and haven't spent more than 2 and a half or 3 hours. I make it there by noon and there are plenty of air conditioned areas to escape the heat.
We had small kids and we took 3 hours, we took breaks inside the buildings with A/C
2 hours but get there early when its a little cooler.
It takes about 2 hours to see the entire park my suggestion is go as early as possible but remember there are a lot of exhibits with the animals that are inside air-conditioned areas and so it's really not that bad because you go from being outside in the heat to an indoor exhibit , so you should be okay.
The park is small enough that if you go with older kids or all adults it would take little over an hour if you dont stop and read every info plaque. If you do stop and read all facts, or have small kids it will probaly take two and a half hours.
I just did a field trip with 12 kids today And we did it in two hours including the splash pad.
About 2 hours
Idk I stayed the night when it was cold
