Best retain the receipt, of course. In such cases where like yourself or most times it would require a special trip, I call the manager on duty explain the difficulty with my order and have them make a notation in the "manager's book" for an eqivalent complimentary meal at your convenience. I don't know what is up with not being able to reach them. I'd keep trying them or even one of the other BK franchises here. I believe they are all owned by the same people. YMMV.
Its Burger King... Fast food. Don't expect much.
Google the home office abd call them they should be able to help
