I am thinking of adopting a female cat from aspca. I was told she has a heart murmur and it would be expensive to have her spayed I don't want to see her euthanized she is such a sweetheart but I have a fixed income any ideas

The ASPCA has a "Community Medicine" program for free care for lower income residents of NYC. However if you are getting the cat from ASPCA, they will perform all of their initial medical upfront. Speak to the ASPCA, not just the clerks at service desk, a vet tech at least and discuss the cost of care. A cat with a chronic condition is hell on your income. If you have not formed the deep emotional attachment of having that cat as part of your family and life for awhile, then you must weigh that very heavily against whether you CAN PROVIDE the care they need and deserve
