When staying at Wishon Campground - you must camp in one of the established sites and park in the parking spot there - you cannot come in and camp wherever you would like.
Unfortunately, that area/campground are burnt and it smells like it.....very upsetting to see, if you've been there before. In all honesty, your chances of finding a decent & safe remote location, are very unlikely.... All surrounding campgrounds are closed until ending of November (according to a camp host I spoke with today at Kern River after attempting to camp at Wishon with reservations). Best of luck with your decision!!
