The Museum is pay as you wish no matter what they say. So you can pay a penny if you want no matter were you are from.

It is no longer free anymore unless you have a NY ID. You have to pay full museum price to enter. They do have free Friday nights at the Met for everyone.
For New Yorkers it is voluntary, they only ask for ID the first time you visit them, for tourists 25 adults. This is as of March 2018
Free admission for one to the Met Fifth Avenue, the Met Cloisters, and the Met Breuer if you have a NYC id card
They are changing the policy, no longer free/voluntary, except i think for nyc residents?

How to get entrance to museum
For non New Yorkers $25. Welcome to New York... As a visitor I feel discriminated.
Public museums paid for with tax dollars are free to any public. They asked for $25 and I politely declined and gave a donation of $3 per person. Then gave my tags away to a family still waiting outside and clued them in on admission. Our double decker tour guide gave us this clue or we would have paid full price too. Remember you have already donated by default with your tax dollars.
30$ now for adults
$30 for non-locals. If you're a New York resident, it's pay what you wish.
The met museum free on Friday nights?
So can you make a appointment to get in or you can go any time?
It costs 25 for the general public but for NY, NJ residents and students the payment is voluntary.
How much is it for New Yorkers...what kind of ID do I bring to prove I am New Yorker?????

The Met's current admission policy: For New York State residents as well as New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut students, admission is pay as you wish. Please be as generous as you can. For visitors from outside New York State, there will be a mandatory admission fee: $25 for adults, $17 for seniors, and $12 for students. Admission for all children under 12 and Members and Patrons will continue to be free.
Yes, it's $25 for adults if you are not from New York, but what none of the guidebooks told me was the $25 admission is good for *three consecutive days*, so if you have the opportunity to return for more than one day, there is excellent value. And hey, it's the Met!!
Adult ticket is 25$ The senior ticket is 17$ (65 +) Student is 12$ whit an ID for certification if is a student Child 0$ (for 12 and under)
As of March 1 it costs $ 25 for "non-New Yorkers", before there was a voluntary fee but it is no longer an option
Ok
You pay as you wish... the announcement: "suggested price"
It's free for NYS residents
What if you are serving with AmeriCorps? Is there any discount?
Suggested donation is $25. You pay what you can.
You can make a donation in a lesser amount. $10 or & 5. The museum is located on Fifth Avenue but actually in central park. Don't be bashful. Pay what you can afford to do
You can pay what ever you want, but for THIS Museum you must pay at least 15 dollars.
Its a donation, not a fee, and residents and tourists pay the same. If you cannot afford $25, you give them what you can afford.
If You have Bank Of America any card you have free tickets eny firs weeken of month (and more museums all of us; check list)
