Richard, It is true that we are closing the bathrooms and laundry room at 10:00 pm. We took over this park January 1, 2019. It had a terrible problem with transients, drug addicts, etc that would use the facilities. We are trying to change the reputation of the park, once done we will revisit the times of our facilities. You can have visitors they just have to register with our office or staff so we can monitor who is in the park (for the same reason as stated above.) We are doing major improvements to the park! In my opinion the people who have moved are not used to Rules and Regulation and that is why they are leaving. We are striving to have a great park that is safe for the residents and the staff. The parks been recently sold many inconvienant changes to it have been made. The his her bathrooms w/showers are now closed at 10pm and the laundry is no longer 24/7. They are telling tenants they cannot have no guests and no overnight visitors. And they become have been known to harass any that do have comp.or overnight visitors this has been my experience in the past 2 yrs til just today itself as of the 15th we also will be moving as so have so many of others. Some who have been here for 20 plus yrs have moved due to the ongoing harassment.
We don't pack, we were there end of Sep. through Oct. waiting to go to AZ. for a winter volunteer post with the NPS. NEVER had any issues with anyone in or out of the park. Lots of folks live there full time and take care of their selves, their neighbors and this small neighborhood. I would think the goal of the new owners is to maintain and improve this property.
The place recently got taken over by new owners. They are doing a good job of cleaning up the area. The police station is about a block away. However, packing isn't a bad idea. Edit: they also have security guys that drive around.
Too many rules to follow and they are always changing rules to benefit themselves
I live at desert sand, you will like it here M donalds is caddy corner from desert sand. No you don't have to pack any weapons. It's very mellow, we have security on site.no burglarys no stealing no worries at. I sleep with my door unlocked I live at space 191 at desert sands

Yes I would say pack all the time!! Not a good place to be!
Packing is not necessary. McDonald's/Terrible Herbst gas station is a 2 minute walk for late night goodies and beer,wine and cigarettes.
