Can i purchase a ticket for a friend and give it to her to get back home without her having id? If u get the ticket do u have to show id with the ticket when boarding

My sister was able to buy a ticket for me without my ID. Of course she'll need it at the station to pick up the ticket. She would just show the ticket upon boarding.
