Lights will go dim while you put brights on an off, that's another self test.
Autozoner: typically the battery light might come on or flicker and the most common way the alternator goes out is the regulator and that can go out intermittently one moment it works the next moment it doesn't leaving you stranded when you thought you were good and just had it tested. Any AutoZone will test your battery starter and alternator in or out of the car for free
The battery doesnt get recharged and it won't start
Go to autozone and they can test it while it's in the car.
