It all depends on what you want to spend. A few onsight hotels offer perks like the Parks Express Pass is included, which means you don't wait in long lines for rides. You can also purchase the Express Pass on the park's site so again, it is all what you would want to spend. In my opinion, the Express Pass is worth it so you get to ride more rides instead of long waits in line. Your going to love this park! Enjoy your stay!

They have an area for you to purchase tickets, no big deal. I traveled to Florida, I stayed a one of the resort hotels. Every 15 minutes, a bus comes to the hotel and to CityWalk. CityWalk is the main area between the 3 parks, Volcano Bay, Islands Of Adventure, and Universal. My advice would be to go online and purchase tickets, stay in a hotel in the Universal park. You get early access and the get on busses to the park for free.
