If my dog has chewed my ac wires to where my ac no longer works. Should I have my unit tested before I consider relacing it with another unit.

Unquestionably. Replacing the wires may be all that is needed. But do not risk a fire with a shirt cut, get a pro to check it out and repair. Snyder is good choice.
