Unless you have a boat the only way to get out there is to take the ferry from Honeymoon Island. The beach is nice there is a combination Cafe and a very small gift shop
The Ferry will take you to Caladisi Island in the Gulf. About a 15 min ride and the only way to get to Caladisi. Honeymoon Island is enter from the Dunedin Cayseway. There is a Dog Beach there as well. Have a great time, it's absolutely wonderful!!
The ferry is to calidesi a causeway goes to honeymoon both have beaches but caladesi has less people

Honeymoon Island park has a lot of beach front area but most of the sand that touches the water has shells. One of the beaches in Honeymoon has plenty of sand to enjoy. But despite all that beauty it doesn't compare to Caladdesi Island park and is well worth the trip. The beaches have white sand and the water is pretty clear. My family and I have gone there by ferry, personal boat and even canoe!
The wonderful Jack Eckerd brought the rocks to Honeymoon Island. Before that no beach came close to its beauty. Now you take the ferry from there to Caladessi which has very nice beaches
Yes there is a sand beach. It's a short walk to a boardwalk that also has bathrooms. Not where the ferry docks. That is near a building with a small gift shop and place to order food and eat outside on the veranda. It's a very nice park. We kayaked from Clearwater Beach so only grabbed a quick bite and walked out to the beach. Someday I hope to go back and spend more time on the island ❤️
