I got my result in 23 hours. Got tested at 4:45pm, got result next day at 3:30pm. For travel, I would suggest you to pay so you can guarantee the result out by 2pm next day. I would not take risk by going for a non-travel RT/PCR test. And it all depends on your destination actually if they allow 72 hour test window or 24 hours prior to departure. If it is 72, going for a regular (free) test should be fine in my opinion.
