my Grandfather was in the Calvary in WW1 I have a picture of him with his horse standing in front of a large brick building. On the back of the picture he wrote "taken in Fort Russin when I was still in the Calvary." Where was it?

Fort Ross is outside of Bogega Bay on the west coast of California. Not sure it is the same. The Russians had forts up the coast of California and in Alaska.

Hi, Fort Ross is all wood, even the defensive walls and towers, so your picture unlikely to be the one north of Bodega Bay.
