I would like to get a real ID now before the deadline even though my driver's license doesn't expire until 2022. Will I have to take the written test to get a real ID driver's license even though mine doesn't expire for 3 more years?

Yes, I remember I took the test when changing to realID. It should be fine. All common sense questions.
