I'm a customer. Not an owner. I personally don't mind this new policy. Seems like this is properly allocating costs. A cash customer pays $10 and merchant gets the $10. A charge card customer pays $10 and the merchant pays your charge card company their percentage (up to 5%) and merchant then gets, say, $9.50. Many retailers will give a discount for customers paying with cash or a check, this is normally just done with big ticket items.
I can’t believe Amanda is talking about the same restaurant! I’ve eaten there twice on this trip. The food was delicious! Probably the best ribs I’ve ever eaten (and I’m from Memphis where ribs are a staple!). Love all the choices of sauce. On my next visit I tried the BBQ chicken. It was really good, also. Ate at the bar both times with different servers. They were both so nice and talkative. We have 2 different groups of visitors coming in before we leave NC. The Peddling Pig is definitely on the itinerary for our guests. Also, checked out the restroom both visits. While they were not shiny and new the restrooms were definitely clean.
Hello Bob, we started this almost a month ago. The fee helps cover some of the fees yet not all. We realized the cc processing fees had become very excessive with so many rewards cards being used by customers. We are having ATM's installed as another way to offer pay with cash. CC are a convenience for customers but very expensive for the businesses. Thanks for the question and I hope this answer helps with your understanding of our position. Sincerely, Ethan Oh and yes we have added this surcharge onto the menu as well as receipt to inform you and not surprise anyone.
Better a surcharge than to go in and find out it's cash only. Lots of restaurants won't take a cc for purchases under $10. They definitely need obvious signing so you can decide when you get there, making it your choice to stay or not.
Their food is awesome!
Amanda B the peddling pig in banner elk NC the food was horrible, it made my family sick, the bathrooms are sicking they had dead bugs in the floor the toilets we're so nasty I could not use the restroom
2% is pretty easy to maintain. Folks, that's is $2 for every $100. ;)
I was not aware that they started charging a surcharge. I was not charges a surcharge the last time I ate there.
No one informed me of the new policy. Although it was not much on a $30.00 charge, I would have preferred someone informing me before my card was used. I have been going there since Pappy's first opened and always enjoyed his food, as well as yours. However, there are now numerous restaurants in Boone that I may have to consider.
