Hi Steve, how long has the gas been in the engine tank? Ethanol gas will expire after 30-days and the water and gas separate. The water causes damage to the fuel line and carburator and will most likely need a flush job. You may need a carburator rebuild or replacement (whichever costs less). There is a synthetic fuel called TruFuel and has no ethanol. Its safe for up to 2 years in the tank after you open the can and pour into gas tank. Gabe 408-377-4496

Hi Steve, what brand of engine is on the generator? Does it consistently dies after 10 minutes or does it die sporadically? Once it dies are you able to restart the engine or do you have to wait until it cools down again to restart? The most common issue is probably a fuel related issue like Allan suggested, however if it seems to die consistently when the engine gets hot- then it could be an electrical issue like a bad coil. I would also check to see if the engine has an oil alert system which will kill the ignition of the oil level gets lows. Knowing what brand of engine is on the unit will help to determine if it has this feature or not.

Sounds like a fuel line problem either pinched line or fuel filter
