I have a lightly used, but older, homesite chain saw(xl ut10695-b) that will not start. Apparently no longerr being made. Is it likely that you can repair? and what does the advertised $49 quote cover?

Homelite went out of business awhile ago and parts are no longer available so we cannot repair it. Nobody will be able to get parts. When ethanhol gas has been sitting in a machine for more than 30-days the water and gas separate and the water content gums-up the fuel line and can rust the inside of the carburator and fuel tank. We sell a product called Mechanic in a Bottle for $8 and you can try to use it to clean your fuel line if the saw was not sitting for more than a month with old gas. If the saw was sitting for a long time with old gas you will need to buy a new saw. We sell gas powered, battery powered and electric saws if you want to learn about your options. - Gabe/Gardenland
