John, you posted your comment as a question few will see, I recommend you put a review. I know that they attend until 1 pm and if they closed before there must be some compelling reason, but if you have a complaint, I believe in some government website, foreign relations I think, it should be. If they get paid in dollars it can result in an advantage over other Chileans, but they live here and I don't see how it could be otherwise. In 20 years living in the US, we have, my wife have children, many times in need of the services of this consulate and we have always been courteously and efficiently served. I understand your annoyance with your attitude that is typical of the Chilean public official. It is part of the idiosyncrasy and is one of the reasons why I left Chile. In the US the concept of customer service is crucial but if you go to any public services office you will be treated in the same way, for example, DMV ....
Are you talking about the Colombian Consulate or the Chilean Consulate?
