Spain and the EU in general only have two types of visas: 90 day visas, which you have with your US passport; or 365 day+ visas. The only visa that lets you stay for more than six months without being in a Spanish university or a job in Spain is called the Residency Visa. It is a pretty significant investment of time and resources so you might consider re-arranging travel plans. Sorry, I hate to be the bearer of bad news.

I think they don't ask you for anything, just tell them your new address but if you have a bill in your name it would be fine.

There is a link on their website where you can schedule an appointment but take in count that it could take weeks or even more then a month.

I had a similar case and they told me to renew it... But mine will expire on May, so even closer to April. Spain requires 2 month validity for citizens who are non-europeans, but airlines can apply their own policy, which is the tricky wall to sort :/ good luck!

Hi, just take a copy of your husband's bank statement with you and have him be there available with you if they want permission to use his statement for your financial purpose. Also FYI, you need to have the 1st page of each statement translated. Also, they want proof of funds for about 550 EUR per day!

I addressed it the the consulate "Attn:Visa department" on the outside of envelope. Inside I included who I was, my passport number (I believe). Also that further documentation had been requested during my interview, that's why they were recieving the package.

My wife and I submitted FBI background checks to the Los Angeles consulate without any issue. I was however asked to acquire police reports to further clarify two of my results. That further information was asked of me during my interview. If you do not have any results, than no further action is required, I wouldn't imagine. If you do have results and you feel they may need further clarification acquire police reports. The FBI background check is vague, basically city, state, case number, crime and outcome. I had to mail my police reports to the consulate after they were requested during my interview. I was given ten business days and they were timely to acquire. In the end I had to pay a hefty price to translate and priority ship them to the consulate. I would suggest having anything needing clarification done prior to appointment.

Not sure exactly what you are trying to say or ask. You state "approved at time of visit to Consulate". To my understanding you only submit application during your appointment with the consulate. So your response should have come via email as mine did. Once they notify you of your acceptance or rejection, you then have one mo tha ro pick up passport/Visa. If you were notified and did not retrieve your passport/Visa, than I'm not sure what you should do. I would attempt an email to the consulate (not that they will respond). I know they are hit or miss in response, but it might be worth a try. You will never get an answer if you call, the consulate website states they do not answer calls. Though there is an option to leave a message when you call the provided number (however that works). Your best bet, if you are near the consulate is to stop in near closing and see what's up.

I do not work for or am I associated with the Consulate General of Spain. However if I understand correctly a Schengen Visa, then yes, you should be fine. You can spend 90 days within a 180 day period. If you hold a U.S. passport than you hold a Schengen and should be fine. I believe all the countries you noted are in the Schengen zone, I hope this helped.

The Hours are mon-fri 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. I imagine you will be able to pick it up anytime during those hours. I was there last week and several people picked up passports/visas after just walking in.

Go in to make an appointment at precisely 12:00 pm midday LA time. Slots open a month before the actual time of the appointment. In other words you need to make an appointment a month in advance exactly. It's a terrible system and website and the consulate is super unclear and uncommunicative. They will screw you over when it comes to the timeline since you have to do everything 3 months in advance and they only let you start doing things 3 months in advance. So be prepared and hyper-proactivs.
