They allow upto 26 people per tour and have tours every half an hour or so. Walk-in should be fine if you are not going in a larger group. In case of a bigger group I would suggest booking in advance.
Most of their business is walk in. Super cool and laid back. P.S. there is some roof work and maintenance being done on the house. You will only hear a little of them as they are working in small increments of time for the loud stuff in between tours. The cool part is that it adds to the experience, someone not in the "know" will hear whispers and light footsteps on the roof. I was not in the know, and it took me until I walked the grounds to figure it out. I laughed and had a great time with the staff. Their crew is sooooo nice and always willing to inform or education. But u gotta catch em. They are behind the scenes. Just go dearies, there is no time like the present. Look for the guys with dirty fingernails, their stories are accurate and invaluable. But don't discount your tour guides ask lots of questions, if they don't know...they'll find you an answer.
Walk in or scheduled are good .
Walk in is totally fine. They have an explore more tour until February. I highly recommend doing that tour as well. It is a lot of walking so make sure you wear comfy shoes. :)
They take about 26 people per tour. There are quite a few tours per day. If you have a larger group i would suggest getting tickets ahead of time but if there are openings you can just come and get your ticket when you get there
Walk in is fine.
