It definitely was an influence for the miniseries. Quoting wikipedia: "Several references are made in the script to other fictional works regarding ghosts, including The Haunting of Hill House, Ghostbusters, and A Christmas Carol. King based his concept for Rose Red on the Winchester Mystery House, but added the concept that the house could appear larger and different on the inside even though it looked the same from the outside."
