If you don't want to pay, you can still go into the house, the gift shop is part of the house where you can check it out. See pictures on Google for the rest of it.
Yes you are. Tickets for either a guided or self-guided tour are sold through the gift shop. Open from 10-5 (12-4 winter hrs). We did the selfguided tour and quite enjoyed being able to explore on our own taking as much time as we wanted in each room. Staff were very knowledgeable for any questions we had after touring the house
