I can't speak about the tension between them, if there's any at all. Front Street is a City based shelter and the SSPCA is independent and funded by donations solely. They equally service the community, but if you find a stray for example you would drop them off at Front Street Shelter vs. SSPCA.
Didn't know there was tension but they do compete for donations I guess. When you get that many retired hens together there's going to be drama.
I don't know anything about tension between Front Street and the Sac SPCA. Front Street is more of a government run facility that is funded by the government but also accepts donations. The Sac SPCA is a non profit organization. They both have some of the same values like adopting out animals to forever homes. The only thing is if you find a stray you have to take it to Front Street. SPCA accepts owner surrenders and Front Street doesn't due to overcrowding issues. Hope this helps! I know all this because I'm a Front Street volunteer: )
I'm not aware of any tension. Front Street is run by the city of Sacramento. Both rescue animals in the area.
